From the beginning, founder Young Lee set out to serve the kind of food he would be proud to feed his own family. - Young Lee immigrated from South Korea to South Los Angeles and found affordable, healthy restaurant meals hard to come by.
- Young and his wife, Sarah, created the Simply Magic® Sauce recipe in their home kitchen.
- They opened the first Flame Broiler in Orange County, CA, combining traditional South Korean flavors with Los Angeles tastes.
- Franchising grew as a way for others to become business owners and expand access to the concept.
- In 2009, Young pledged to sponsor two children in need for every Flame Broiler location that opens; that community commitment continues through The Flame Broiler, Inc. and the Flame Broiler Foundation.
- Today, Young’s sons Daniel, Christian, and David have joined the family business to continue the legacy of greater access to healthy food.
